Gift Box and Card Set

Yeh, I finally had a chance to download some pics off my hubby's camera, so here is the gift box and card set that I mentioned in the last post.

The paper I used for this project was from an older package called Passages. These became available online in the "While Supplies Last" a few months ago. I scooped up several packs as I really liked the paper and intend to do a scrapbook of the trips I take with my friend who is more like a sister to me. It was a tough decision to break into this paper, but I'm glad I did as the result was fantastic!

The box is just the right size for A2 cards and envelopes. It is called My Creations Card Box and retails for $5.50 Canadian. The first thing that I did was inked the edges of the box (it's originally white) with my Chocolate Distressing Ink from my distressing kit.

Then I measured and cut the strips of paper for all the sides. I cut them 1/4 " smaller than the actual dimensions. I used my handy dandy pink ATG to adhere the paper to the box. The postcard on top came with the Stickease and I simply layered it onto the chocolate brown cardstock. The phrase "every day cards" was stamped using a small alphabet set of stamps that had been a constant campaign. Sorry I can't give you the name right now, I'm in the process of having my floors redone and a craft room built in the basement so items are scattered all over and some are packed in boxes! I can't wait until all these renovations are done!

I used a glue dot to adhere the bookmark which also came with the Passages paper kit and then I simply slide my postcard into it. The ribbon is from CTMH as well. The only embellishment that is not a CTMH product is the slide I put on the front. The came in a pack from a sales rack at one of my favourite stores, Michael's.

And now for the cards. All of the cards are A2 size and I simply used standard envelopes to go with them. This gift was for an Aunt and Uncle of my husband. They had travelled to visit us so that the Uncle could perform communion blessings for my step-daughters after their baptism. Although they were quite excited and honoured to be able to perform this, I felt it was important to acknowledge it with a gift, I and knew that something made with love and care would be appreciated so much more than a bought item.

Without further ado, here are the cards! They are all made with strictly CTMH papers, stamps and inks. I kept them simple and made a variety of types of cards. I didn't take pictures of the insides, but I always made sure they had a light colour to write their message on and some sort of paper decorated them.

I like the torn paper effect with our white core papers.

I did different generation stamping for the same sentiment, leaving one to stand out. I think this sentiment is actually just a wooden stamp that I had laying around and is not a CTMH stamp.

Decided to change up the colours a bit and still have them coordinate. Love the double sided CTMH paper for that!

Used 2 inks when stamping this sentiment!

Love the buttons and hemp. The canvas buttons were easy to stamp using CTMH inks and a patterned stamp from the Token Alphabet stamp set. The Hello was again a small wooden stamp that I had picked up from Michael's.

I hope you enjoyed getting to see this project, finally! I enjoyed making and giving it and I'll probably do it again. It would make a great hostess gift to have on hand. Check out my website by clicking on my badge. We have a great promo coming up. I'll chat about it on my next post, but I'll give you a hint...think of a child's block puzzle!

Keep on crafting!

Buttoned Up Card Set

Check out the cute cards made with the CTMH acrylic stamp set called Happy Clusters. It allows you to use either stamps or buttons or a combination of both to embellish trees and stars. The video also shows you how you can make a coordinating box using the my creations card box which can hold A2 cards. I used this box to make a coordinated gift box and card set using Passages paper for a family member. It turned out really well and as soon as I can get it downloaded, I will post the pictures. I was very proud of it!

Still no camera, but I did win something!

I can't believe that I still don't have a camera to replace the one that I got wet in Belize this winter! This is very frustrating as I have done several projects that I want to post, including a mini album with a "dance" theme. I guess I'd better check and see if I have enough Air Miles to get a simple camera and add the camera that I want to my Christmas wish list!

On a more exciting and upbeat note, I was excited to learn that I had actually won something on Joy and Melanie's Everyday Cricut blog. It is a Tipsy Stylus. I was several weeks behind in my emails and so late in responding, but Joy, being the kind soul that she is has indicated that she'll still mail it to me! Yeah, me!

I hope everyone is having a great week. The sun is finally shining, but my friends in Manitoba are battling with flooding and the possibility of losing homes and cabins. It is a tough time for a lot of people in Canada. Not only is there major flooding in several areas, but fires have wreaked havoc on another town and 7000 people have been displaced with many homes and businesses lost. Thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.

Everyday Cricut is giving away an E2!

Joy and Melanie are having another fantastic giveaway on Everyday Cricut! On May 1st during a live Ustream broadcast they are giving away a Cricut Anniversary Expression 2. They are also giving away a lot of other great prizes. Check out their site for how to enter in this great contest. They always have amazing projects to show! Click on the above link or on their badge on the sidebar.

Now, I managed to get a picture downloaded of a card that my friend Tasha and I recently designed for Father's Day. Here it is

Sorry about the quality of the picture. It was taken with a phone and when it was downloaded, it faded. This is an A2 size card, but it was scored at 2.25 and 6.25 to make it a trifold card.

The paper is all CTMH. The center flap was made using 2 different sizes of Nestabilities and the Cuttlebug. One is in Denim Blue and the smaller one is in Colonial White. It is adhered to the left flap and then tied to the right flap to keep the card closed. 4 eyelets were used on it, 2 for decoration and 2 for the hemp tie. The lettering was stamped using the Typewriter Keys and then popped up.

On each side a 2 x 5.25" strip of Desert Sand paper was run through a crimper and then adhered to to the card with an ATG gun. Using stamps from the Enjoy Life set, we stamped first with Desert Sand, then Versamark and heat embossed with Denim Blue.

I am really pleased with how this card turned out. I really want to get my own crimper (we used Tasha's) now that I've seen how great it looks! It's like instant corrugated cardboard!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Easter weekend. I enjoyed a birthday surprise and finally, the sun has been shining here. I just wish the last of the snow would disappear and all of the flood water with it. Can't wait for summer!

Updates

Hi everyone,

I still haven't gotten a new camera so haven't been posting any projects. I took a couple of pictures with my hubby's camera but can't find his USB cord!

I am now an independent consultant for CTMH products. Check out my website! They have fantastic papers and be sure to look on the "While Supplies Last" page in the online ordering section. I have found many fabulous deals there!

http://hall.myctmh.com

I have been busy with a friend and fellow consultant doing lots of projects. We recently just completed 120 cards to go in the gift bags of the participants in a High School Rodeo Championship. They turned out really great. We used Lovely Buckles stamps to make fantastic belts and buckles in keeping with a western theme. I'll be sure to post the picture and recipe when I get a chance.

I also played around with altering inexpensive notepads and I made Easter cards, Spring cards and I tried my hand at making a little clear Easter treat box. These were all great projects and as I said, I'll post pics as soon as I can work out the technical difficulties I'm having.

I hope everyone has a Scrappy Easter!

PS: Don't forget to keep an eye on Everyday Cricut. They were giving away an imagine this week and you still have time to post! Their blinkie is on the side of my blog and here is the actual page about the giveaway. Someone is going to have a fabulous Easter!

CTMH

Hey there,

So I haven't been able to post any new pictures lately as my camera still isn't functioning. I have used my hubby's camera but cannot find the cord for uploading so I am still without pictures. However, with my birthday coming, I am hopeful that this issue will be resolved.

What have I been up to in the meantime? As most of you know, I fell in love with my Christmas papers from Close To My Heart this year. As I have come home from my great Central American adventure, I have used more and more of their products and so I thought it made more sense to become a Consultant. Why not try to add to my share of the family income and get a fantastic discount on product that I love? I have been working with my upline and friend, creating cards, getting organized and ready for my first official workshop this coming Saturday. I've also been spreading the news amongst family, friends and fellow scrapbook addicts that I am officially a Close to My Heart Consultant.

This is my website. www.hall.myctmh.com Check out our great line of papers and acrylic stamps. Everything is colour coordinated to make your scrapbooking life easier!

Until next time,

Karen

I'm back!

Hi everyone.

I am back from my Central American Adventure and it was nothing short of awesome. The month went by very quickly in a whirlwind of activities. I hope some you followed our travel blog as we enjoyed posting pictures and stories as we went along. Unfortunately, while I was doing a tidal walk in Belize, my camera dipped into the water and is not working well anymore. I will have to get a new camera which means posting things I've been working on since I got home will be difficult. I will have to filtch my hubbie's camera.

This is a busy time of year with Valentine's and birthdays and I am starting to do more with my friend who is a Close To My Heart Consultant. In fact, she has convinced me (and my new found love of the products) to sign up and become a consultant so stay tuned for that!

I will find a camera and post the little 3 x 3 Valentine cards that I made for my girls to use and the party invite for my oldest step-daughter's birthday this weekend. Maybe even find time to post about the workshop held at my place and the layouts I made? We'll see how the day progresses.

Have a great "Hump Day".
