Thank you card #1

Hi there!

I recently volunteered to make the Thank You cards that our SCC group was going to need after a function. I had to make 4 cards. I can't believe how long it takes sometimes to create. I wanted 4 completely different cards and I had to keep in mind that one of them would be going to a male. Sometimes it seems easier to create for a female than a male. I spent a better part of the weekend creating 4 cards and I'll show them to you one at a time.

I hope you enjoy them. The ideas for the layout of the cards I got from purusing 2 of Jeanette R. Lynton's books that CTMH carried. All of the books that we carry are being discontinued. Already the Originals Card Confidence Program book (which I used) and Reflections Scrapbook Program book are out of stock. Head over to my site quickly and put in your order before any of the other fabulous books are gone! The other one that I used when making these cards is Wishes Card Confidence Program.

Okay, here is the first card I made.

The paper I used is an older CTMH paper called Bliss. It has a very soft oriental pattern on it and really lent itself to being heavily distressed.

I used my distressor on all the edges and then I hand stitched it to the standard A2 card that was made out of Bamboo cardstock. I could have machine stitched this, but I chose to handstitch it using embroidery floss. One of the greatest new additions to the CTMH line of tools is this ruler.

It has little holes in it so you can easily pierce your paper for even stitching. I love it!

This is the stitching from the inside. Sometimes I cover it up, but this time I liked the overall effect and so I left it showing.

I used a strip of bamboo cardstock. I believe it was 2 x 4.75. I always forget to write down the "recipes". and then 3 little squares of the same paper but used the opposite side for the middle square. The top and bottom squares were 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 and the middle one was 1 1/2 x 1. The sentiment came from My Acrylix For Every Occasion and I used Grey Wool Ink.

Finally, I embellished with a few light tan Opaque Adhesive Gems and added a strip of the same paper as the front to the inside. Heavily distressed with a short strip of stitching "holding it on".

An angled view so you can see how much distressing was done to the edge.

Well, I hope you liked this first card. I just loved the distressed torn worn out look of it. This is definitely one of my favourite things to do.

#2 coming tomorrow!

Happy crafting,

Karen
